Topic: Honey Bees in the Wild 

Speaker: Dr. Thomas D. Seeley, Horace White Professor Emeritus in Biology Dept. of Neurobiology and Behavior Cornell University Ithaca, New York will be speaking Monday, May 20, at 7:00 pm on “Honey Bees in the Wild.” He will discuss how colonies live in nature (in the forests around Ithaca, NY), and how this differs from how they live in apiaries. Information about the genetic differences between these two kinds of colonies living in the same region, and how the free-living colonies are persisting without receiving treatments for Varroa mites will also be discussed. Tom is author of many books based on his careful research and his latest book, "Piping-Hot Bees and Boisterous Buzz-Runners 20 Mysteries of Honey Bee Behavior Solved", Princeton University Press will be out in April, 2024!

Topic: Beginning Beekeeping Class

This course is an introductory course in beekeeping and will teach you all you need to know to get bees into your hives and start beekeeping! We will not only provide you with the knowledge so that you can maintain your hives but also with the knowledge so your hives will thrive.
